Robert Acker

Robert Acker - General Manager

Robert Acker leads the Aha team with 14+ years of pioneering leadership in the connected car industry. He’s been developing and launching technology-based consumer products and services since he wrote the original business plan for XM Satellite Radio in 1997.  

Before founding Aha in 2008 (acquired by Harman in 2010), Acker was most recently SVP of marketing at Dash Navigation, the company that developed the first internet-connected GPS device. There he led marketing, advertising, product management and public relations for the award-winning device that Walt Mossberg predicted could “radically improve in-car navigation.” Prior to Dash, Acker served as VP of music services at RealNetworks where he oversaw the leading on-demand music service Rhapsody and the company’s music download store. As the first full time employee at XM Satellite radio, Acker served as VP of marketing and VP of product development and planning where he negotiated the company’s first strategic partnerships, created the XM brand, set pricing, launched the service and developed the company’s award-winning radio lineup.  

Acker is often quoted in publications such as The New York Times, BusinessWeek and Automotive News, and has been a featured speaker at many top tech industry events, including CES, Web 2.0 Summit, Where 2.0, CTIA and Telematics Detroit. He began his career at aerospace start-ups and worked as an engineer at Boeing Satellite Systems. He holds both a bachelor's degree and master's degree in aeronautical and astronautical engineering from MIT, and a MBA from the Harvard Business School.

Max Mancini

Max Mancini - V.P., Engineering

Max Mancini has been leading engineering efforts at Aha since 2009. Prior to joining Aha Mobile, Mancini spent 7 years in various roles at web giant eBay. In his role as Sr. Director, Platform & Mobile he was responsible for eBay's mobile business, developers program and disruptive innovation in eBay's marketplaces business. As the GM of eBay mobile from 2007 to 2009, Mancini led all aspects of the business, including business strategy, product development, business development, marketing and technology. In his innovation leadership role at eBay, Mancini drove idea creation across the business, and directed innovation projects, new business strategies and product investment.

As the head of eBay's platform team Mancini helped define the technology strategy to transform eBay platform to a service oriented architecture. In this role, he led eBay's developers program, which enables third-party developers to extend the eBay marketplace by creating solutions that make it faster, easier and safer to buy and sell on eBay. In his earliest role at eBay, Mancini led an engineering team of 70+ developers responsible for development on eBay Stores, merchandising, registration, sign-in, trust and safety, and customer support tools. He launched Kijiji, eBay's local community classifieds websites, as well as eBay's new business ventures.

Prior to eBay, Mancini was Chief Technology Officer and vice president of engineering at Cranite Systems which offers access solutions for SMBs, enterprises, and government markets. Previously, he was president and CEO of Consumer Reviews, a product review business based on web communities. Prior to that, he was a Senior Manager for Business Consulting and Product Line Manager at PointCast.

Mancini received a BS in computer science and an MS in engineering management from Santa Clara University and has served as a Military Intelligence officer in both the U.S. Army and Reserves.

Rod MacKenzie

Rod MacKenzie - V.P., Automotive Business Development

Rod Mackenzie joined Aha in 2010 to lead the distribution and implementation of the Aha platform into car entertainment systems around the world. MacKenzie has more than 20 years of automotive, telematics and mobile infotainment experience.

As VP of Advanced Applications & Services at XM Satellite Radio from 2002 to 2008, Mackenzie developed new capabilities and services for XM's core Automotive business and OEM partners including GM, Honda, Toyota, Nissan, Hyundai, Porsche, Ferrari plus aftermarket GPS brands like Garmin and leading airlines United, AirTran and JetBlue.

Prior to XM, Rod spent 17 years at Land Rover in various positions around the world, launching new car lines and brands, and leading engineering teams focused on everything from electrical systems to trim packages to accessories. Most recently, MacKenzie was CTO and VP of Programs at the Intelligent Transportation Society of America, the leading advocate for technologies that improve the safety, security, and efficiency of the nation's surface transportation system.

Chia-Lin Simmons

Chia-Lin Simmons - V.P., Marketing & Content

Chia-Lin Simmons has been creating, distributing and marketing digital media since the infancy of the Internet. She has spent her career bringing content onto the devices where it will be seen and heard by consumers – from the cassette players, to the iPad, to the car. Over the last 16 years, she has helped companies such as Audible (now an Amazon company), CNET, Harman International, NewsCorp, Playphone, Time Warner and Wired generate revenue via groundbreaking content distribution deals across mobile devices and the web. At Aha, Simmons leads global marketing, business development and content programming for the division's mobile, in-home and in-car products.

Prior to joining Aha in 2010, Simmons was VP of Marketing and General Manager of Playphone North America where she led marketing, business development, operations and customer support divisions. At AOL/Time Warner she forged and managed social media partnerships with MySpace and Facebook. As VP of Strategic Alliances at Audible, Simmons successfully launched the company's wireless business and was responsible for driving adoption of the #2 audio format (behind MP3) via major partnerships with Sony Ericsson, Nokia, Motorola, Palm, SanDisk, Creative, Garmin, Best Buy, Amazon and others.

Simmons is a sought-after speaker at tech industry events such as Digital Hollywood, PodCamp, Women in Technology International and others. She can also be found sharing insights on content monetization and marketing via a weekly podcast "On Digital Media" (www.odmcast.com).

Simmons graduated with the highest honors from U.C. San Diego and received her MBA from Cornell University, where she was a Park Leadership Fellow. She also has a JD from George Mason University School of Law and is a licensed New York attorney.
